For more than 50 years, Aspenwood Dental Associates has cared for families across Aurora and the wider Denver metro. We're a completely independent practice, not a corporate chain, which means our priority is your lasting oral health, not a sales quota. Whether you're booking your child's first cleaning or planning a full mouth reconstruction with the Colorado Dental Implant Center, you'll be cared for by the same team, in the same familiar chair, year after year.
This is what we mean by personalized dental care: knowing you, your history, and your goals well enough to give you the right answer the first time.
Dr. Ronald Yaros opened our doors in 1972 with a simple idea: dentistry should feel personal, not transactional. Five decades later, that idea still drives every appointment. We've watched patients grow up, raise children of their own, and bring their grandchildren in for first cleanings. Some of our families are on their fourth generation with us.
The practice has grown in scope and team size, but the model hasn't changed. We stayed independent on purpose. Independence means we choose the materials, the lab partners, the technology, and the pace of your treatment based on what's right for your mouth, not what a corporate parent requires us to upsell this quarter.
A dental home is the practice that knows your history, your habits, and your goals. It's where you call when something hurts, when you want a second opinion, or when you finally feel ready to fix that tooth you've been avoiding for years.
At Aspenwood, that promise has a few practical parts:
That's what we mean when we say our care goes beyond the chair.
Aspenwood has four dentists, each bringing a different specialty depth to the practice. You don't have to drive across town to see a specialist; chances are, one of us already does what you need.
Dr. Ronald Yaros, DDS — Founder
Dr. Yaros founded the practice in 1972 and still mentors the team today. He brings more than 35 years of clinical experience in the Denver metro and a depth of restorative knowledge most younger dentists spend a career trying to build.
Dr. Lisa Augustine, DDS
A practicing dentist with Aspenwood since 1996 and a 5280 Magazine Top Dentist honoree continuously since 2008. Dr. Augustine is the lead general and restorative provider for many of our long-term families. She's known for a calm, thorough approach and for catching things other dentists miss.
Dr. Daniel Jay Zeppelin, DDS
With the practice since 2003 and also a multi-year 5280 Top Dentist. Dr. Zeppelin handles complex restorative cases, crowns, and full mouth rehabilitation. Patients tend to describe him as patient, methodical, and unhurried.
Dr. Aaron Sun, DDS
Dr. Sun leads our implant and cosmetic work, including All-on-4 cases at the Colorado Dental Implant Center. His teaching-style explanations of bone grafting, gum contouring, and implant planning are part of why patients who came in nervous about surgery often end up scheduling it the same week.
If you've been to a corporate dental office in the past 10 years, you've probably had this experience: you sit down, the new dentist (who's been there three months) flips through your chart for the first time, and you leave with a treatment plan that includes a deep cleaning, a night guard, and two crowns you didn't know you needed.
That's not the model here. We're independently owned and have been since 1972. There is no regional manager pushing daily revenue targets. There is no scripted upsell. When we recommend treatment, it's because we'd recommend it to our own families. When we say something can wait, we mean it can wait.
The financial side is equally clear. We accept most major PPO insurance plans, Health First Colorado (Medicaid) for qualifying treatments, and offer an in-house membership plan for patients without insurance. Every implant and cosmetic consultation includes a complimentary benefits check, so the numbers are on the table before any work begins.
We don't lead with awards because they aren't the reason patients come back, but they're a useful shorthand for the work behind the chair:
You deserve to know what's happening in your mouth. Every treatment plan we recommend is explained in plain English, with visuals where they help, and with the time you need to ask questions. If you're not ready to schedule the work, you won't be pressured. If you want a second opinion, we'll help you get one.
We also believe dentistry should be comfortable. Our Comfort Menu includes nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation for patients who need more than the standard set of options. If dental anxiety has kept you out of the chair for years, that's the most common story we hear at first visits, and there is a way back.
If you're looking for a dentist in Aurora who will treat you like a person, explain your options without pressure, and be here next year and the year after that, we'd be glad to meet you.
